GENERAL TRANSPORTATION GUIDELINES
- Punctuality: Students must be at their assigned stop 5–10 minutes before the scheduled time. For safety and efficiency, students must wait at the stop, not inside a house or vehicle. Drivers are not permitted to wait for late students.
- Schedule Adjustments: Pick-up times may vary during the first few weeks of school. Permanent schedules are typically established by October 1.
- Route Consistency: Students are assigned to one bus route and one specific stop. Riding a different bus for social visits or after-school activities is not permitted.
- District IDs: Every student is issued a district ID, which is required to log on and off the bus. Students should have their ID ready and on their person at all times.
- Safety Protocols:
- Seat Belts Must be fastened and worn at all times while the bus is in motion.
- Boarding Wait off the roadway and approach only after the bus has come to a complete stop with red lights flashing.
- Crossing If crossing the street, wait for the driver’s signal. Cross at least 15 feet in front of the bus and look both ways.
- Carry-on Items: Items must fit comfortably on the student’s lap. Large items, including musical instruments, require prior approval.
- Change Requests: All stop change requests must be submitted in writing; phone requests will not be accepted. Processing takes approximately three school days, though this may extend to three weeks at the start of the school year.
- Home Identification: Please ensure house numbers are clearly visible from the road. Unmarked homes may lead to delays, especially during the first week of school.
