It is the responsibility of your position to initiate conversion to a standard for all educators through the NJEdCert. Before initiating a conversion to standard, you must confirm the following has been completed:

  • Teachers: Completed 30 weeks of mentoring, received two years of effective or highly effective final summative ratings and completed required coursework, if applicable.
  • Administrators: Completed one-to-two-year residency.
  • Ed. Services: Completed a 6-month residency, received an effective or highly effective rating and completed coursework, if applicable.
  • SLMS (School Library Media Specialist): Completed a one-year residency, mentoring, received an effective or highly effective rating and completed coursework, if applicable.

To Initiate a Conversion:

  • Log into the NJEdCert
  • At the Home page, click on the box Initiate Conversion to Standard
  • Follow the prompts.
  • Once this has been completed, notify the educator that you initiated the conversion.
  • Check back every few weeks to see if the Standard certificate has been issued.

Once the Standard Certificate(s) has been issued:

  • Login to NJEdCert.
  • At the home screen, click on Lookup Educator Certificates
  • Type in the First Name and Last Name of the employee and click Search
  • You will see all the certificates that have been issued to the employee.
  • If you see that the Standard certificate has been issued, then make note of the License number for the certificate you will be printing.
  • On this same screen, scroll all the way down to Accounts Recently Viewed. You should see your Educator’s personal information listed. If you do not, then click on the search bar and type in the educator’s first and last name and hit you return key.
  • Click on the educator’s name (should be in blue type).
  • On this page, to the right you will see a series of boxes. Scroll down to the box titled Certificate or Credential.
  • If you don’t see the certificate number listed, Click on the View All (in blue type at the end of the box).
  • There you should see the Standard listed under the Type column for license number you want to print.
  • Click on the license number (in blue type) of the certificate you wish to print.
  • Now you see the Standard certificate. In the upper right corner, click on the box Printable View.
  • In the upper right corner, click Print This Page.
  • After you have printed the page, click Close Window (in the upper right corner).
  • To get back to the page to print a second certificate (if applicable), then click the back arrow in the upper left of the google website bar.
Repeat the process above for printing a second Standard certificate.
  • You should email a copy of this print-out to the employee.
  • You will need to enter this Standard certificate into the Certification page in ERP-Linq.
  • Then you will need to go into the NJ Assignment page in ERP-Linq and in the Certificate Key box, click the drop down and choose the standard certificate number that you just printed. NOTE: For teachers with multiple certificates and teaching different courses, you may have to pick the correct certificate for each Employee Assignment.
  • You should now scan into the employee’s Archive/Etrieve Content file the Standard certificate and file this certificate in the employee’s paper file in the file cabinets in our office.
